In Latin cordolium translates to “heartfelt grief” or heartbreak. These images tell a story of a young girl's first love and heartbreak. The flowers represent eternal grief (carnation) and innocence (pink rose). These flowers are beautiful at first glance but the thorns cut deep into the new blossoming romance the girl thinks she is part of. Slowly the flowers begin to wilt and she is left with blood-stained hands. She begins to pull out all her impurities and is left with no guts and no heart. As she holds her heart above her head she is left hollow like a porcelain doll. The world revolves around love and the feeling to belong. I wanted to use gore and blood to show how brutal heartbreak can feel. It was crucial for me to be able to accurately represent a feeling that is hidden from the human eye. This was inspired by Our Lady of Sorrow's unique portrayal of sorrow.  I used different methods of blurring to create an illusion of a dreamlike state. I attempted to mold an interesting storyline with each image stringing onto the other while the porcelain cup marks the beginning and end.
