Broden.
Throughout my teenage years, and especially recently, I have been intrigued by the idea of how we are restrained by our obligations, our limitations, and the expectations of others. I wanted to explore different ways of representing this idea in my sustained investigation.
I started my sustained investigation with a drawing from observation of a string wrapped around a piece of material illustrating a sense of restraint. This inspired me to further explore the feeling of being limited or held back in a series of works. As my investigation developed, I used the color red contrasted with neutral tones to portray the things in our lives that hold us back which we cannot always control. My final piece displays the emotions I have felt while being confined to my home during the recent quarantine.
