I investigated the techniques used in fashion photography in order to mimic the advertisement and promotion of clothing, all while creating photographs with visual emphasis that are pleasing to the eye.

In the current age of social media, we are constantly fed advertisements. Looking at images from magazines, I had always found it interesting how the advertising of these clothes correlates to how many items a company can sell. When I shop online, the aesthetics of clothing websites are pleasing, with photos that are well lit and have good use of the principles of design. This is the way that clothing companies are able to sell so many clothes. I experimented with the techniques used in fashion photography in order to make clothing appealing to the eye. I pretended that I was a photographer working for a clothing company; I completed this by experimenting with the use of LED lights for color contrast, as well as experimentation with principles of design, such as the use of balance and rhythm in order to create color schemes and visual emphasis that is pleasing to the eye. I used a blank poster board behind me to create differentiation from the foreground and background.
